About

Greywacke is the personal venture of the talented Kevin Judd, who was the co-founder and head winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 years. Inspiration for the name, incidentally, comes from the type of stone – Greywacke – that are found in unique soils of the winery’s vineyards. Judd only uses grapes carefully sourced from prime vineyard locations across the region, using low intervention techniques and canopy management regimes. Greywacke’s Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir emerge alongside Chardonnay and aromatic varieties of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Judd’s noted photography skills give the Greywacke range an instant identity.
