One of the most recognised names in Champagne, and indeed the fine wine industry, the Dom Perignon house has been making exquisite champagne for almost 100 years. The vision behind this house was a young 17th century monk, Father Pierre Perignon, who was a pioneer in the process of blending and perfecting champagne and the method of making wine sparkling. The house Dom Perignon are now famed for their exclusively vintage champagnes, as well as their incredible vintage rose champagnes; the first vintage of their rose was released in 1959.
With access to some of the best vineyards in the whole of Champagne, Dom Perignon make wines of incredible aging potential; their P2 and P3 projects are of particular note. Probably the most famous champagne maker of his generation, Richard Geoffrey, recently retired from the helm of Dom Perignon after releasing the 2008 vintage, having been making their wines for 28 years; he was succeeded by Vincent Chaperon in January 2019.
